On November 2nd VOTE!
Now more than ever it's important to vote in the upcoming school board elections. Due to poor voter turn-out in the past, if voters don't exercise their right to vote, this could be the last time we're asked to go to the polls and decide who will be respsonsible for the future of English public education in our school board.
Make sure you're on the right voting list. Many people who want to vote for English school board commissioners in their community are registered on the French school board voting list by default.
To be able to exercise your right to vote, you must be registered on the list of electors. If you have one or more children enrolled in the French-language or English-language school board where you live, you will be registered in that school board. If you do not have children enrolled in a school board where you live, you will automatically be entered on the list of electors of the French-language school board where your domicile is located. This also applies to first time voters, registered on the electoral list as of 18 years of age.
If you aren't registered on the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board list of electors, you must submit an application to the returning officer: Click here to print and download a registration form.
You can verify if your name appears on the electoral list by calling the DGE (Directeur général des élections) at the following number: 1-888-353-2846.
